Some would call the week I have had a major challenge, another wall in my path, or dip in the road. I choose to think of it as a time to learn, grow and change. In one week things have taken a rather dramatic change around here. I am going to attempt to articulate that in this post, please bare with me. I have much to learn about actual “blogging”.
I have decided to make this a true, blog site, and drop the “business” side of things. Momma Angel the business has been slowly converting itself into a ministry over the last few months. I think God has been dropping me “hints” and had to smack me a good one to get me to understand the direction he wanted me to go in. (This came in the form of a letter from a large company.) You will note by looking around the site that there have been quite a few changes to the site as well. You will also note that the Momma Angel Store is gone. I will no longer be “selling” blankies. If you have questions concerning this matter, please feel free to email me.
It occurred to me that I was spending a ton of time worrying over making posts here about sales, promotions, etc. and wasn’t really “selling” much of anything. (Time that should be spent with my children and family.) I would get one or two orders here and there, but most of my blankies where going to children that needed them, and could not afford to buy them. In the months I had the “store” open I did not sell one pre-made blankie. They all ended up being donated to children that needed them. It finally dawned on me that perhaps God does not want me to “sell” these openly, but to use them to be a blessing to bring joy and comfort to others. So that is what I have decided to do.
We have been making lots of physical changes here at the house too. Those that know me in real life may or may not know, that we are getting things together to start fostering. It is a great challenge, that begins with many safety and space adjustments to the house itself. These changes include securing rails, adding safety latches, hanging new cabinets, hanging curtains, securing a latch on the top of the sliding door, generally infant/child proofing the house, getting more dressers, a crib, more beds, and other general fix ups here and there for safety. Ever so slowly those changes are being made. It is quite the construction zone, but progress is being made quickly. Everyone has been working together as a family unit, even our youngest (Sissy) can be seen here helping Daddy work. We start our classes at the end of this month, and should be matched with our first child before Christmas. We are all so excited to be able to share the love and blessings that fill our house with a child/children that needs it.
My second son has been asking about getting a bigger bed. This week he was blessed with a Beautiful bunk set that is a queen on the bottom and twin on the top. This was something I had been keeping my eye out for, but was not quite ready to get just yet. I kept putting it off. (They can be QUITE costly.) It was suggested to me on Monday that I “just look” and see what range we where looking at. Below is a picture of what I found, at a price we could not pass up. He has chosen to share this blessing with his younger brother. As you can see from the pictures they are both all smiles.
We home school, and where also blessed, earlier in the month with a new school table. I “stole” last year’s school table to use as a sewing table. We started the year on a small square card table. We quickly found out that that was NOT going to cut it. Every time someone would go to coloring, or erasing, the whole table would shake. This made if very hard for the other kids that where working on their hand writing. One of our friends heard of our predicament, and happened to have a set they where getting rid of. They are in the process of moving, and where down sizing. They where gracious enough to bless us with this beautiful and very sturdy piece for our school room. (Sense this pic was taken, that room has been completely rearranged, and a new pic has not yet been taken.)
The above only touches on some of the many changes that have been going on here. Rest assure tho, each and every change is for the better. Sometimes we have to take a moment, and a step back to see this. God is blessing us, so that we may in turn bless others. There are many challenges that lay ahead.
In closing I would like to share a picture I get in my mind, that represents life, and it’s struggles. I get this vision of a myself climbing a very steep hill. I am climbing this hill as hard as I can, occasionally loosing my grip and sliding backwards slightly. The closer I get I get to the top, the steeper the hill gets. To make things even more difficult Satan tosses rocks at my hands, as I climb higher toward the top, knocking me backwards little bits each time. Each time I gather more strength and continue to push and climb. I am now closer to the top. Well this is not pleasing to him at all, because if I make it to the top, he looses. So he gets out the machine gun and starts shooting at me even harder. I have news for you Mr. Satan. You may have a machine gun, but MY God has an Army. Try as you may, you are NOT going to win. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
