Thanks to my cousin in Polk County FL for sharing this hilarious idea! As we all know, pools have a tendency to turn a nice shade of green during the off-season months of Oct-May. Someone in Polk County suggested adding fish to the YMCA pool, and letting people Fish during the off season. While this sounds incredibly red neck, and not something most people would generally think of. I actually view it as an ingenious idea. Think about it! You are not using the pool anyhow, it is just sitting there. Why not fill it with fish, and have fresh fish to eat all winter long. After all, you don’t have to have a license to fish on your own property. It could be the next wave in money saving ideas! HAHA!

Check out these BEAUTIFUL napkin rings made by 74Jewels in Cookeville, TN. Aren’t they just stunning! These are perfect for that special dinner, or even for daily use. Many families are switching from paper napkins back over to cloth napkins (or simple wash cloths even), to try to save $$ and decrease their use of paper products. This saves trees, and helps preserve our environment for future generations. What a beautiful way to make a difference!! This painting says it all! I saw this at Knoxville Pediatric Dentistry http://www.kpdentistry.com/ in their lobby. I LOVE it! It is so true.
Dr. Bo really does feel this way about kids too. He is such a great dentist, and a father of 3 as well. We have been going to him for about 6-7 years now. If you are in the Knoxville area, and need a dentist, I HIGHLY suggest them. They are the BEST pediatric dentist office in the area! Hands down! Call(856) 522-KIDS today to schedule your first appointment.
He has done fillings, caps, cleanings and even reconstructed a broken tooth that was half missing for my oldest son. He has a great bedside manor, and knows how to put the kids at ease. There are always fun cartoons playing over the exam tables, to keep the kids distracted during their dental work, making the experience more enjoyable for both child and parent.
My kids LOVE to visit Dr. Bo. They try really hard to keep their teeth clean, so that Doctor Bo will be happy. How many kids do you know that LOVE to go to the dentist? My 4 sure do! Yours will too!

Susan Spalding in a word is awesome. Over the last year she has been collecting, and distributing much need items to the Foster families in the Blount County area. She has collected shoes, clothes, toys, even car seats, and other furniture. These items are all donated by local families, and given free of charge, to those in need. That is quite unlike Goodwill, or the other thrift stores, who’s items are sold at a low price. Susan also works at a food bank, and helps new and existing foster families with food and formula when necessary.
Now before you go off the deep end, on a rant, over “well if you can’t afford to BE a foster..”, I want you to stop and think for a minute. I want you to imagine that a close friend or relative of yours has 3-4 kids, and something happens to them. They get hurt, killed, or into a situation where they can not care for their kids. Then it happens, you get a call. Now your family is instantly 3-4 members larger. You had NO time to prep. You might have more than plenty for you and your family, but do you keep enough extra clothes, toys, toiletries etc on hand to completely cover you, your family, and now 3-4 new members. Well no, that is a ridiculous notion. Unless you have your own storage unit, and purposely collect things, in preparation for such a scenario, chances are you have just been caught off guard.
This is where Susan Spalding can help. She keeps a rotating supply of clothing, toys, and other items, for all ages. She has everything from newborn up through adult sizes. She has spent many long, hard hours sorting through clothing and supplies. Everything is organized and sorted by size, so she can help people find exactly what they need, in a hurry.
She does not have an endless supply though. She needs your help. Next time you are going through your clothes, or toys, shoot her an email. fosterfamiliesofbc@hotmail.com. Email to find out other ways, or items, in which you can donate as well. She would be happy to meet you down at the storage unit. By the same note, if you are in need of help, do not hesitate to drop her a line with your story. You can also email me at mommaangel@mommaangel.com.
Additionally, If you are interesting in becoming a foster parent, you can call toll free, 1-877-DCS-KIDS. There is a desperate need for families for teenagers, and children of all ethnic cultures/backgrounds. (Black, Hispanic, Indian and other) Bi-lingual families are also in great demand. Please give them a call today, and start on the road to becoming a tender healer. There are children and teens out there right now, just waiting for a home like yours.
